Dead Bird Photograph

This is a photograph of a bird I found on the sidewalk. I thought that, despite the fact that it was dead, it was still quite beautiful. This inspired me to memorialize it by taking a photo.

I did this piece as a project for my high school art class. It’s is a portrait of Thich Quang Duc, a Vietnamese monk who set himself on fire to protest the government. As I was making this, Aaron Bushnell self immolated to protest the genocide in Gaza. So this piece shifted to also bring light to him and his sacrifice.
